Oh man, I’ve got my nighttime routine down pat. I eat a couple pieces of fruit, floss, smoke a j with my husband, brush my teeth, wash my face, turn the heat off, and then put on face lotion, lip balm, foot lotion, and hand lotion before getting into bed. Every single night.
Do I ever remember to eat breakfast, wash my face, and brush my teeth in the morning? Maybe once a month.
please start brushing your teeth in the morning dude
honestly cant believe the amount of gross fucks who dont brush their teeth downvoting me LOL
Hi, I too forget to brush my teeth but I downvoted you because you’re being patronising as fuck. Have a nice day.
Oh shit, I just gotta start doing it??? I can’t believe you fixed adhd just like that.
I think it is probably a good idea medically speaking but you likely know that. I’ve got that down as part of my routine. But perhaps it would help to write a sticky note and stick it to something you need as part of your morning activities already. Of course you need to remember to do both things then and if you’re anything like me you’ll forget (what) to write (on) the sticky note.
I talked to my dentist about it years ago, and he said it’s not ideal, but flossing and brushing once is better than just brushing twice, and I should make sure to do it at night. I don’t as a matter of course brush my teeth once a day, that was just third on the list. Much more commonly, I forget to wash my face and I eat breakfast about every other day, which is probably more detrimental to my health.
I don’t really need that advice though. I was just identifying with the meme and I honestly take umbrage at the fact that someone comes to the adhd subreddit and suggests “just do it” when someone’s not asking for advice. It’s not helpful nor is it constructive, and they immediately started shaming me and others about it.
Does Lemmy have a “Thanks I’m cured” community yet?
youre welcome
Same with exercise. Doing 10 push-ups is easy. I’ll do it every day.
Rookie mistake
It’s better to do 3,000 push-ups today and hope it happens again sometime in the next year.
That’s why instead of walking every day I went for a 32 mile marathon on Sunday
👀
One trick is to tag it on to the end of an existing routine you do reglarly,
like brushing your teethlike after taking your shoes off after coming back from outdoors (that’s when I brush my teeth for ex.)Even things I do regularly im only sorta, kinda, able to keep it going. I have some supplements I take twice a day and that sometimes happens but I almost take them at least once a day. I highly encourage shooting high to get closer to a minimal level of compliance. Oh and this only really works for really easy things.
I have all of my medicine bottles in a bright red makeup bag. I would be hopeless otherwise. Makeup bags are nice because they are very wide and deep. The growing pile of pill bottles fit nicely. I am talking about the more boxy shaped ones without anything inside them. Mine is around 8cm wide, 13cm high, and 20cm long. Really rough measurements.
I got the pill sorter things where I can prepare it every week. But since I average once a day I fille every other weekish.
Those are horrible because they don’t help much and really highlight my failures. I even taped a baggie with my pill box inside onto a shelf in a convenient place to jog my memory.
Try this.
Put your toothbrush, tooth paste, floss, and the moisturizer in one box. If you go to brush your teeth you’ll also see the moisturizer.
Oh you want me to NEVER brush my teeth instead of every 1-2 days.
No but seriously, this is an issue. I usually at least use the toilet (because obvious bodily signal) before going to bed which, due to the layout of the bathroom, means I have no choice but to look at the spot where my toothbrush is. I also do have the decency to remember to wash my hands which means even more time spent looking in that direction. I STILL manage to not see the toothbrush and forget to brush. Anything not moving and/or yelling merges with the background noise. *confused T-rex noises*
Boxes defeat me. It must be in a constantly visible clump.
This is not adhd. Wait, is this adhd?
Not being able to maintain a task is one of the most standard symptoms of adhd
All the quirks turn out to be symptoms after all.
